The designer became interested in body deformities caused by scoliosis (lateral curvature of the spine). Patients who permanently wear orthopaedic corsets hide their (frequently extraordinary) shapes under the clothing. The designer suggested putting the corset on the outside as an accessory, something extra on top of the garment. The assumption was to treat the body like a sculpture, turning something that is usually hidden into a plus point. The research part of the project was based on meetings with orthopaedists and interviews with patients.
