Materials: bobbin lace, worsted wool, plastic
5 male and female silhouettes
The complex structure of dreams was the inspiration for making the elements of silhouettes from multiple layers of one-coloured fabric. The choice of material refers to tribal culture in which dreams are considered a subjectively existing reality. The connector between the dream and the waking world is the bobbin lace used in the detail and finish. The project also makes use of worsted wool which the designer wove on a loom: a reference to primitive weaving methods. The contrast between reality and the dream is rendered by fabrics that may be similar at a glance, yet are made of materials as distant from one another as wool and plastic.
