Around the Fire

This set of glassblowing tools is designed for individuals with smaller hands and less physical strength—primarily women, who represent a growing demographic in the new generation of glassmakers. The project responds to the lack of variety in traditional glassblowing tools. The standard equipment often makes it difficult—or even impossible—for those who do not fit the conventional mold of a glassworker to practice the craft effectively.

Each tool features modified construction and proportions, offering improved ergonomics, comfort, and greater control over the material. The project aims to level the playing field for glassmakers by eliminating the need to adapt to ill-fitting equipment. The aesthetic focuses on contrast—combining precise, ergonomic shapes with simplicity and raw form—symbolizing the entry of women’s hands into the world of heavy industry.
